What is Larvabot?
Larvabot finds blogs, threads and directories for your side project, drafts personal outreach you approve, and runs on free API tiers.
Larvabot is an outreach assistant for indie hackers and solo makers. You give it your site. It finds the blogs, newsletters, threads and directories where your project belongs, writes a personal first draft for each one, and waits for you to say yes. Then it shows you which of those actually brought visitors.
It runs on the free tiers of tools you sign up for yourself (an AI key, a search key, an email account), so there's no per-search or per-email bill. It's a small tool on purpose: dozens of good conversations, not thousands of cold emails.
#What it does
- Email outreach Finds pages that would genuinely benefit from your project, reads them, finds who wrote them and drafts a short, specific email plus two polite follow-ups.
- Conversations Spots people asking for what you built on Reddit, Hacker News, Stack Exchange, YouTube, Bluesky, forums and more, with a reply drafted for you to post.
- Directories A checklist of free directories and launch sites, with copy written for each one and a Done box.
- Contacts Messages for people you already know, sent one by one from your own WhatsApp, SMS, Telegram or email.
- Reports A cookieless snippet on your site tells you which emails, threads and listings sent people your way.
- Quota guard Hard caps under every free limit, checked against what the providers themselves report.
#What it doesn't do
- It never sends without you. Every email waits in a review queue until you approve it.
- It never posts for you. Community replies are drafts. You copy them, make them sound like you, and post from your own account (or skip them).
- It doesn't do volume. Each email campaign sends one email a day by default, on weekdays, inside a send window. You can raise that, but not to spammy levels.
- It doesn't buy lists. Contacts come from the pages themselves: bylines, contact pages and mailto links, with a few free email finders as a backup.
Is this for me?
If you have a side project, a small SaaS or a content site, and "marketing" currently means refreshing your analytics and hoping, yes. If you need 10,000 emails a week, Larvabot is the wrong tool (and a very confused caterpillar).
#Words you'll see around the docs
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Project | One website you're promoting. Each has its own profile, campaigns, sender, tracking and reports. |
| Profile | What the AI understood about your site: audience, value props, competitors, tone, cautions. Everything Larvabot writes is based on it. |
| Campaign | A goal plus a list of search queries. Email campaigns find leads, community watch finds threads, directory campaigns find listings. |
| Lead | A page (usually a blog post or list) and the person behind it, moving through stages from Found to Linked. |
| Conversation | A thread or comment where someone is asking for something your project does. |
| Tick | The hourly background run that does a little of everything: search, research, draft, send, check the inbox. |
