Larvabot blog card: Free email finder tools compared

As of November 2026, Prospeo's free plan gives you the most free email finder credits of the tools we checked — 100 a month, no credit card required — with Hunter's 50 and Snov.io's 50 (plus 100 recipients and 25 enrichment tokens) close behind. But raw credit count isn't the whole story: each tool covers domain search, LinkedIn prospecting and verification differently, and most "best free email finder" roundups you'll find on Google are written by the vendors selling the tools they rank first. Here's what each free plan actually includes, checked against each vendor's own pricing page this month.

Finding an address manually, from the site itself, is still faster and more reliable than any tool for a single contact — see how to find the email address of a website owner for that order of operations. The tools below are for when the manual steps come up empty, or you need more than a couple of addresses a week.

Which free email finder has the biggest free plan?

ToolFree planRenewsWhat a credit covers
Prospeo100 credits/monthMonthly1 credit = 1 email found; mobile number lookup costs 10 credits
Hunter50 credits/monthMonthly1 credit = 1 email via Domain Search or Email Finder; verification costs 0.5 credit
Snov.io50 credits + 100 recipients + 25 enrichment tokensEvery 30 daysCredits power the email finder and verifier
Skrapp50 credits, 1 userNot stated on the pricing pageCredits power its LinkedIn- and domain-focused finder
Tomba25 search credits/monthEvery 30 days1 search = 1 credit; verification isn't included on the free plan
AnyMail FinderNo ongoing free plan — 100 credits on a 7-day trialOne-time trialOnly charged when a verified email is found

None of these beyond AnyMail Finder ask for a credit card to start, and Tomba's pricing page says so explicitly. Credit counts and what they cover change often enough that it's worth re-checking the vendor's own pricing page before you commit to one, rather than trusting a number from an older blog post (including this one, eventually).

What do these free plans actually include and leave out?

The credit number is only half the picture. Here's what each one restricts on its free tier:

  • Prospeo blocks bulk processing and API access on the free plan — you're finding addresses one at a time through the web app or its browser extension.
  • Hunter caps you at one connected email account and a 500-recipient sequence limit, and free users don't get auto-verification, lead enrichment, or the advanced Discover filters that paid plans unlock.
  • Snov.io's free ("Trial") plan leaves out bulk search, bulk verification, team features, integrations, API access and webhooks — it never expires, but it's built for occasional single lookups, not a real campaign.
  • Skrapp's free plan is capped at one user and doesn't state whether its 50 credits renew monthly, so test it before assuming it's a recurring allowance.
  • Tomba rate-limits free search to 5 a day and caps Domain Search results at 10, and its free credits don't include any verification.
  • AnyMail Finder doesn't have a real "free forever" tier: the 100 credits are a 7-day trial that asks for a card (checked, not charged), after which paid plans bill $29/month for 400 credits. Its one genuinely good feature for a tight budget: it only charges for finds that come back verified, and a search returning no verified address is free.

Do free email finders verify the address, or just find it?

Finding and verifying are two different jobs, and not every free plan does both. Hunter's free credits cover verification at half the cost of a find (0.5 credit), and Snov.io's free plan includes its verifier. Tomba's free plan finds addresses but doesn't verify them at all — you'd need a separate check, or its paid plans, which bundle verification credits in free alongside the finder credits. Skip verification and you're gambling with your sending reputation: a wrong guess bounces, and bounces hurt the sender reputation of whatever domain you're emailing from, free finder or not.

If a tool's free plan doesn't verify, run anything you plan to actually email through a separate check first. Free cold email outreach tools rounds up the free verifiers worth pairing with a finder that doesn't include one.

Is Clearbit Connect still a free option?

No. Clearbit's own changelog entry from February 13, 2025 confirms Clearbit Connect — along with the free TAM Calculator and Clearbit's free Slack integration — was discontinued on April 30, 2025. It's still listed as a free pick on plenty of "best email finder" roundups that haven't been updated since, which is a useful reminder that these lists go stale fast. If you installed Connect before the cutoff, it's no longer supported; use one of the tools above instead.

Which free email finder works best for LinkedIn prospecting?

If most of your leads come from LinkedIn profiles rather than a domain or article byline, Skrapp is built specifically around that workflow: it's a Chrome extension that pulls an email while you're looking at a LinkedIn profile, rather than a web form you paste a name and domain into. Hunter and Prospeo both ship browser extensions too, and work from a LinkedIn profile URL, but they're general-purpose finders first. For a byline on an article or blog post rather than a social profile, Tomba is built specifically for that — paste the article URL and it returns the author's email.

Whichever extension you use, remember that a Chrome extension that reads LinkedIn pages can see everything on the page you're viewing, so stick to names you recognize (Hunter, Prospeo, Skrapp) and skip anything with a generic name and no public company behind it.

How do you stretch free email finder credits across a real outreach list?

Free tiers run out fast once you're past casual use. 100 Prospeo credits plus 50 Hunter credits plus 25 Tomba credits is 175 free lookups a month across three tools — useful, but it won't cover a list of 500 cold leads, and juggling three separate accounts and export files gets tedious quickly. A few ways to make the free tiers last:

  1. Exhaust the manual methods first. A contact page, author byline, or mailto: link in the page source costs nothing and is often more accurate than a database lookup — see the step order that finds most addresses for free.
  2. Save your tool credits for domains where the manual steps genuinely failed. Don't burn a Prospeo credit on a site with an obvious Contact page.
  3. Spread lookups across tools instead of maxing out one. A name that Hunter's index doesn't have might still turn up in Prospeo's or Tomba's, and running the same 50 names through two different free tiers (100 total lookups) beats hitting one tool's monthly wall at 50.
  4. Verify before you send, even on a tool that doesn't bundle it in — a free lookup that turns out to be wrong wastes the message, not just the credit.

This is the same order Larvabot follows when it finds someone worth a personal email: it reads the page itself first for a byline or mailto: link, and only falls back to Hunter, Prospeo and Tomba's free tiers when the page has genuinely nothing, with a quota guard that stops it from ever running a connected tool past its free monthly limit.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best free email finder tool right now?

By free credits alone, Prospeo's 100 a month (no card required) is the largest of the tools we checked, ahead of Hunter and Snov.io at 50 each and Tomba at 25. The better question is fit: Skrapp for LinkedIn-first prospecting, Tomba for article bylines, and Snov.io if you want a verifier bundled into the same free plan.

Do I need a credit card to try these tools?

Not for Prospeo, Hunter, Snov.io, Skrapp or Tomba's free plans — Tomba's pricing page states this explicitly, and the others don't ask for payment details to start. AnyMail Finder is the exception: its "free" 100 credits are a 7-day trial that does require a card, which is checked but not charged unless you continue past the trial.

Is Clearbit Connect still free to use?

No. Clearbit discontinued Connect, along with its free TAM Calculator and Slack integration, on April 30, 2025, confirmed in Clearbit's own changelog. Ignore any list that still recommends installing it.

Can I use more than one free email finder's credits in the same month?

Yes, and it's one of the better ways to make free tiers go further. There's no rule against running the same list through Hunter's 50 free credits and Prospeo's 100 free credits in the same month — they're separate companies with separate quotas, and each may find an address the other misses.

Do free email finder credits expire if I don't use them?

For the tools here, no — Hunter, Prospeo, Snov.io and Tomba's free credits simply renew to their monthly or 30-day allowance rather than rolling over or expiring mid-cycle, based on each vendor's current pricing page. Check the specific terms before relying on this for a tool not listed here, since policies vary and change.

Are email finder browser extensions safe to install?

Stick to extensions from companies you can verify independently, like Hunter, Prospeo or Skrapp, and read what permissions the extension requests before installing — a finder extension needs to read the page you're viewing (including LinkedIn or a company site) to work, which is normal for this category, but that's also real access to grant, so don't install one from an unfamiliar publisher just because it's free.
